I grew up like most California kids in the 90s, slathered in chemical sunscreen. Back then, noone knew the damage those sunscreens could do to our skin or the ocean. But now it’s clear that chemical-based sunscreens should be a thing of the past. Fair skin and long surf sessions don’t mix, so I eventually switched to mineral sunscreen. It worked great, but it left me looking like a ghost and it was almost impossible to scrub off.

That’s where Kook-Off comes in. I was tired of trying to wash off the stubborn white residue and figured others must be too. So, I made something to melt away the mineral sunscreen after a day in the waves, while also hydrating and soothing my skin.

We're a small team based in San Clemente, California, where the surf is great and the sun is endless.
